RESTING METABOLIC RATE (RMR)
Resting metabolic rate (RMR) is the amount of energy the body burns during rest and the measurement is sometimes used as a benchmark for how efficiently your metabolism is working.
The RMR Report provides you with three main metrics including:
The fuel sources your body uses during daily activities - divided between fat and carbohydrate - provided as a percentage. A good score would be 80% fat to 20% carbohydrate.
Your metabolic health in comparison to norms for age and gender. 50% means your metabolism is NORMAL for your gender and age. A higher score means you burn more than normal and a lower score means you burn less.
Your caloric requirements based on your metabolic rate and fitness goal with caloric recommendations for weight maintenance or loss.
This test is the starting point for all science based nutrition and weight management programs. Designed to achieve optimum health and body weight.
What do I need to do prior to testing:
If completing an RMR, the quality of your test results, your post-test debrief, report and consult is directly related to your strict adherence to the RMR pre-test protocol:
● At least 5 hours of fasting prior to the test
● No intense exercise (>1 hour) 24 hours before the test
● No caffeine, tobacco or stimulating drinks for at least 5 hours prior to the test
● Continue medications as usual -- be prepared to discuss before your test begins
● Wear workout clothing and shoes
● Bring additional clothes and a towel for after the exercise portion of the test
● Bring a snack for after the tests.
There is no fasting requirement for the Fitness Test.
