Shockwave Therapy
shockwave therapy is an effective modality in relieving pain intensity and increase the functionality and quality of life in various tendinopathies such as:
Plantar fasciitis,
Elbow tendinopathy,
Achilles tendinopathy and
Rotator cuff tendinopathy
Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations that are directly applied to an injury through a person's skin via a gel medium. Generated shockwaves have proven successful in a number of scientific studies for the treatment of chronic conditions. Shock wave therapy is thought to work by inducing microtrauma to the tissue that is affected by these problems. This microtrauma initiates a healing response by the body. The healing response causes blood vessel formation and increased delivery of nutrients to the affected area. (Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research volume 7, Article number: 11 (2012))
